PERU, Ind. (AP) — A British-based energy company is facing more obstacles to its proposed wind farm with some 300 turbines in three northern Indiana counties.
The Miami County planning commission has created a committee to review the county’s turbine regulations after dozens of residents complained they’re too lax. That step comes after Fulton County commissioners voted last month to strike down that county’s wind farm ordinance after objections to the plans by Renewable Energy Systems.
Company development director Brad Lila says the project with 600-foot tall turbines would be built to standards exceeding Miami County’s rules.
Miami County’s economic development director maintains the new review is unfair as RES has already leased about 190 parcels.
