FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Police Department and Indiana State Police arrested John D. Miller, 59, in Grabill, Indiana Sunday morning.  Miller has been preliminarily charged with Murder, Child Molesting, and Confinement in connection with the 1988 homicide of April Tinsley.  He will make his first court appearance on Monday in the Allen Superior Court.  The state will have 72 hours to file formal charges should probable cause be found.

According to the Affidavit for Probable cause, police have evidence collected at the time of the initial investigation in 1988 along with evidence collected through the years.  DNA was collected from April Tinsley which gave police a DNA profile.  Since then, they have had DNA evidence collected from several residences through the years.  This year, those DNA samples were tested and matched John D. Miller.

Detectives questioned Miller after his arrest and he admitted to the murder and rape of April Tinsley.  April Tinsley went missing on April 1, 1988.  Her body was found on April 4, 1988 in a ditch off of County Road 68 in Spencerville, Indiana.  This case still remains under investigation

This monster would never make it to the court house steps if this was my child.
Honestly this monster should never reach the court house step no matter who’s child it was.
