While some parts of the Midwest are bracing for harsh weather conditions brought on by Winter Storm Eboni, Indianapolis residents shouldn't worry about heavy snow.

The storm that's causing blizzard conditions throughout the north-central U.S. and led Kansas' governor to declare a state of emergency won't be bringing any snow to the Circle City, forecasters told IndyStar. Temperatures will be mild through Friday morning before becoming more seasonable later in the day and into the weekend.

That's because the storm is going to be "well north" of Indianapolis, National Weather Service meteorologist Jason Puma said. "We're not expecting snow or ice," he said.

However, there will be heavy winds and rain, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts as high as 26 miles per hour are expected Friday. Temperatures will fall from the mid-50s in the morning to about 40 degrees by 5 p.m. It will be colder over the weekend, with high temperatures of 36 degrees Saturday and 42 degrees Sunday.

Hundreds of homes across Indianapolis and Hamilton County had power outages on Thursday night, according to an Indianapolis Power & Light Company outage map. Power was restored overnight to all but 129 customers in two pockets along 96th Street, the map shows.

In Hamilton County and Boone County, more than 100 outages were reported, according to a Duke Energy outage map. All power has been restored in those areas, the map shows.

Weather in northern Indiana might be affected by the storm, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast in the South Bend area calls for a 40 percent chance of rain and snow showers on Friday night. There's currently a wind advisory until 9 p.m. Thursday.

The storm also is expected to bring a wintry mix that includes sleet and freezing rain to northern Michigan, USA Today reports. Puma says there will likely be snow across the Great Lakes area.
